DeArj: How to use this unpacking tool from the 90’s

by on Jul.01, 2025, under News

DeArj is a command-line utility used to extract files from ARJ archives. ARJ (Archived by Robert Jung) was a popular compression format in the 1990s. It was also used by scene groups like RAZOR 1911 in the 90s for their installers.

dearj e archive.arj -d /UNPACKDIR
  • e stands for extract
  • archive.arj is the name of the ARJ file to unpack
  • -d is an optional parameter allowing us to specify the target directory

Once the extraction is complete, the files will be available in the current directory or the specified output directory.
